Costume Maker's Ball...Finished Quilt

I’m so excited to share my Costume Maker’s Ball finished mini quilt with you!

Fellow Riley Blake Designs Designer, Janet Wecker Frisch of Joy Studio designed Costume Maker’s Ball. This spook-tacular collection of slightly creepy, yet fun and modern prints was inspired by a set of antique sewing patterns from the 1800’s. The collection features Janet’s stunning art in her signature style with some of my favorites including the tape measure, jack-o-lantern balloons, scaredy cat buttons, webs, and tickets. The panels in this collection are to die for!

I decided to stick with a small range of Janet’s prints, mostly in black and white. I chose to incorporate my favorite RBD basic, Shades into the mix as well. I searched high and low for the perfect quilt pattern and found Charming Lucy by Andy Knowlton of A Bright Corner to be just what I needed. I knew the pattern would highlight Janet’s beautiful artwork while giving me the chance to explore color and pattern balance. Aren’t those various Shades colors so good? It gives the project so much awesome texture.

I kept the machine quilting simple, using a cross-hatch pattern. For the backing, I used Kisses basic in gunmetal grey and chose a darker grey Shades basic for the binding. The darker binding adds some awesome depth.

Costume Maker’s Ball is in stores now! Don’t wait to buy this collection around Halloween, trust me, it will be sold out! It’s that good!
