RBD Block Challenge...Catching Up

Does running late count as exercise?

Even though I’m a bit behind, I’m excited to share my latest blocks for the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge! Week 6 was all about the classic Shoofly block and for week 7—the versatile Sawtooth block.

Wait, is it Shoofly or Shoo Fly?

I’m continuing to make my blocks in Goose Tales by Janet Wecker Frisch as well as two of my favorite Riley Blake Designs basics: Texture and Shabby.

Here’s a recap of Week 6:

Melissa Mortenson from Polka Dot Chair has an awesome tutorial for the Shoofly block. Click here.

I love this block so much, that I made two. Which one is your favorite?

I love using Lori Holt’s from Bee In My Bonnet Cute Cuts Trim It Ruler for trimming my half-square triangles. It works perfectly every time.

Here’s a recap of Week 7:

Amy Smart from Diary of a Quilter shared a great tutorial for making the Sawtooth block. Click here.

While this block might sew together easier for some of you, I really struggled. And I knew I would.

I made two trial blocks using Liberty Fabrics Flower Show Spring, a collection they designed for Riley Blake Designs before I made it with Goose Tales. Let’s just say I won’t show you the first trial block. Haha.

Wait, isn’t Flower Show Spring gorgeous?

I felt much better after making the second trial block and then continued on making the block for my quilt.

How many of you struggle with the desire to make eveything perfect? I’m working on it, but it’s so hard.

Now if you’re just joining the RBD Block Challenge, here’s what we’ve made so far:

Check out your fellow maker’s blocks using the hashtag #rbdblockchallenge. This sew-at-your-own pace challenge is really fun, right?

Okay, I’m off to make the next block—wish me luck!
