Make It Mini Book...
Mini quilts + embroidery? Yes, please!
My quilty friend and gal pal, Beverly McCullough just released a new book. It’s called Make It Mini. This book features 13 adorable mini quilt patterns and each one features a splash of embroidery. Too cute!
I’m so honored that Bev asked me to be part of her book tour!
My version of the Sweet Orchard mini quilt features Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cotton Solids and a splash of Minki Kim’s upcoming fabric collection, Forgotten Memories.
I wanted my version to have a 1970’s vibe. Did I achieve it?
Throughout the book, Beverly shares ways you can personalize each mini quilt — I just love that!
It gives the you, the maker, the opportunity to put your own personal touch on each project.
I was inspired to add these teeny-tiny orange blossoms — each one with a French Knot center.
The variety of mini quilt projects in Beverly’s book is awesome. And because they’re mini, you can finish them in a weekend! New to quilting and embroidery? Don’t worry, Beverly shares loads of instructions, tips, and tricks.
I pieced and quilted the Sweet Orchard mini quilt using my Baby Lock Journey. For the quilting, I used the Baby Lock Digital Dual Feed Foot . The serpentine stitch is my go-to — I usually use a 3.5 or 4.0 stitch length and the result turns out great every time!
I used my Baby Lock Blind Stitch Foot to stitch down the binding from the front of the quilt to the back. It’s provides a very clean look on the front of your projects.
