You're one in a melon...

Late last year, Riley Blake Designs announced a Table Runner of the Month Club and boy oh boy did they not disappoint. I must worn you, it sold out fast. I was lucky enough to grab mine from Knotted Thread. Whew! A quick google search and you might find a shop that still has one available.

The kit comes in a beautiful, reusable box and has everything you need to make the table runner quilt top. April’s kit, Sweet Summer, by Sandra Workman Designs is beyond cute! I fell in love with the watermelon blocks and wanted to make something more a little larger than a table runner.

I pulled my favorite RBD Basics from my stash and got to work making watermelon blocks. I made four watermelon blocks, added some sashing and turned them into the cutest little mini quilt. I’m calling this mini quilt Watermelon Picnic. Isn’t it just delicious?

Here are the RBD Basics I used:

  • Confetti Cottons

  • Shades

  • Swiss Dot

  • Blossom

  • Kaleidoscope

  • Gingham

  • Hashtag

I used June Tailor’s Round the Corner tool to get those perfect round edges. The for the binding, I decided to use two colors, so fun, right? I also used Lori Holt’s Chunky Thread to attach the binding to the back. I love those sweet little stitches.

Watermelon is the best summer treat, especially ice cold and maybe with a sprinkle of salt. Am I right?

Be sure to check out the other months and if they launch the club again next year, run, don’t walk to sign up!
