Under The Canopy Fabric Mini Quilt...

Oh hai. It’s me again. Back with another fun Under the Canopy fabric project.

Seriously, this fabric collection is the cutest. It’s available from my friends at Missouri Star Quilt Company as well as many local quilt shops around the country.

Designed by Rachel Erikson of Citrus and Mint Designs for Riley Blake Designs, the collection features tropical animals and plants in bright, optimistic colors.

For my second Under the Canopy project, I decided to make my Modern Mini Quilt Sampler. This 20’’ x 20’’ mini quilt is great for highlighting fabric collections and basics. Each block is 10 1/2’’ square and was made using the draw-your-own foundation paper piecing template method. You can find a video here for the flying geese FPP template method.

I used some of my favorite prints from the collection, including Rawr, It had to be Snakes, and In the Mighty Jungle as well as some of my favorite RBD Shades basics. I need to create more projects with these Shades colors: Cotton Candy, Bottle Green, Lavender, and Peach. They’re wonderful together!

Don’t forget to check out these adorable pom-pom accent pillows I made with Under the Canopy here. My friend and fellow RBD designer, Heidi of Fabric Mutt made these really cute drawstring bags with the collection. And now I want to make some too!
