Fisher Price Fabric...

I’m excited to share Riley Blake Designs latest licensed fabric collection, Fisher Price!

The collection features all of the fun vintage toys of your past—the Chatter Telephone, Rock-A-Stack Rings, Classic Xylophone and many more!

What’s your favorite Fisher Price toy?

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have the Gas Pump, See-N-Say Farmer Says, Medical Kit, Family Farm, Little People Play Family House, and several others. I guess you could say I was a little bit spoiled? Haha.

Stroll down memory lane with this Buzz Feed article about those essential 80’s toys!

This collection comes in three color ways—navy blue, blue, and white. There are five really cute prints including my favorite: Toys, Rock-A-Stack, and Xylophone. There’s also an adorable Vintage Little People Quilt Kit with a pattern by Kelli Fannin.

This collection is perfect for quilting, apparel, and home decor. I love it so much, I made two projects!

Soft Storage Bins

There are some really awesome tutorials or patterns available online for fabric (or what I like to call, soft) storage bins. Most tutorials or patterns are beginner friendly and come together pretty quickly.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • Fabric Storage Bin Tutorial (try this one)

  • Fabric (depending on the finished size, a FQ or 1/2 Yard bundle would work)

    • For the Soft Storage Bin Outside I used the Fisher Price Collection

    • For the Soft Storage Bin Lining, I used RBD Basic Hashtag

  • Batting or Fabric Stabilizer

  • Thread (I love Aurifil 50 wt in #2021)

  • Basic Sewing Supplies (Ruler, Rotary Cutter, Scissors, etc.)

  • Sewing Machine (I created these on the BabyLock Journey)

Here’s the simple instructions for how I made the Soft Storage Bins:

  • Following the fabric cutting instructions, cut out the fabric.

    • I needed (2) rectangles @ 14 1/2’’ by 7 1/2’’ (Outside and Lining)

    • I needed (1) rectangle @ 14 1/2’’ by 7 1/2’’ (Batting)

  • Place the batting and outside rectangle wrong sides together.

  • Quilt as desired.

    • Mix and match quilting patterns for extra pizazz!

  • Fold the rectangle in half, right sides together.

  • Using 1/2’’ seam allowance, sew down the open side of the rectangle.

  • Press seam open and place the seam center with the rectangle.

  • With the finished seam facing away from you, cut out your corner squares.

    • I cut (2) 1 1/4’’ squares

  • Following the tutorial or pattern instructions, sew the corners with 1/2’’ seam allowance.

  • Turn right side out.

  • Repeat for the lining.

  • Following the tutorial or pattern instructions, sew the lining to the soft storage bin outside.

So quick and easy, right? You can’t just stop at 1. I dare you!

Alexandra Tote Bag

Why stop at cute Soft Storage Bins when you can make an equally cute Alexandra Tote Bag?! This sew by number tote bag is part of the June Tailor collection of projects that you—quilt as you go.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

Follow the cutting and assembly instructions and you’ll have a tote bag in a few hours!

I decided to spice it up a bit and omit a few strip sections from the assembly instructions. But I wouldn’t recommend doing that until your comfortable with QAYG. One misstep and it won’t come out exactly right.

Trust me, I learned the hard way! Haha.

I hope you enjoyed these two Fisher Price fabric projects!

Don’t walk—run to your local quilt shop to purchase this fun collection. It’s already selling out.
