RBDNotSoBasic...Mid-Century Santa Table Runner

Merry, almost Christmas!

I wanted to create something Santa themed for my latest #RBDNotSoBasic project, so I turned to the world-wide-web and found the most adorable, almost mid-century like Santa block from Charise Creates!

He’s the perfect size for a stocking, table runner, or pillow.

After searching through my collection of Riley Blake Design’s basics, I decided to create this festive table runner with Confetti Cottons in traditional Christmas colors.

This block is scrap friendly but works with fat quarters as well. It can stand alone or in multiples, like in this adorable table runner. Just add a little sashing and the possibilities are endless!

If you’re new to foundation paper piecing or FPP, don’t worry. There are some amazing tutorials online. Do a quick search and find a method that works best for you! Charise has a wonderful tutorial on her blog!

You’ll need to make 4 Santa blocks for the table runner. You can purchase the pattern here.

After making the blocks, I added 1 1/2’’ sashing between each Santa. For the borders, I used 2 1/2’’ strips.

I quilted the table runner using my Baby Lock Journey and Auriful Monofilament Thread. It’s my go-to!

I can’t wait to see what you make with Charise’s Santa block.
