Season to Taste Book
Happy New Year!
A new year ushers in a chance for you to refresh your piecing and quilting skills and start fresh with a new project. I’m excited to share Season to Taste, a brand new quilt book by Jessica Dayon for Martingale.
Her debut book features 12 awesome quilt patterns, 3 for each season of the year. If you love to change up your season decor, including your quilts, this book is for you!
I love that, with the exception of a few quilts, you can switch up the fabric and cross over seasons.
I had a hard time picking my favorite. It was a toss up between Posy and Skipping Stones. Ultimately, Posy won with its mix of fat eighths and fat quarters. You could make a really scrappy version or go ultra modern with solids.
Riley Blake Designs recently added 20 new colors to their range of Confetti Cottons. Confetti Cottons is the best solid, basic on the market. I picked the following colors: Canyon Rose, Avocado, Moss, Curry, Oceanside and Riley White (background and sashing). This combination is giving me all the mid-century modern vibes! Don’t you think?
The Posy quilt block finishes at 10’’ square and translates beautifully into a table runner, which is what I decided to make. It’s also beginner friendly (at least I think so) with square and rectangle piecing. It comes together in a snap!
I pieced and quilted this project on my Baby Lock Journey using Auriful #2021.
For the backing, I chose Lori Holt’s new basic, Bee Cross Stitch. I picked Liberty Wiltshire Shadow basic for the binding and while the color isn’t an exact match, it’s tonal and gives the project a little punch!
I hope you check out Jessica’s book—in stores now! You can buy it from Martingale, Amazon, and your local quilt shop. Be sure to follow Jessica on Instagram to see more projects and inspiration.
