Follow the Blue Bird...

Did you sew-along with Riley Blake Designs #followthebluebird?

During the month of October, several designers, including myself, shared a project featuring Riley Blake Designs first low volume designer collection, Hush Hush.

Sandy Gervais shared a beautiful fall mini quilt sampler. Click on the button below to get her free pattern.

I was inspired by Sandy’s sampler and decided to make my own. I used a combination of Confetti Cotton Solids in shades of red, black, and several prints from the Hush Hush low volume designer collection.

For the bird, I used the free traditional pieced block. Click on the button below to get the free pattern.

I designed three foundation paper pieced blocks to give my mini quilt sampler a holiday twist. After sewing the blocks together, I added 2 1/2” wide borders. Click on the button below to get my free pattern.

I pieced and quilted my holiday mini quilt sampler using my Baby Lock Journey. For the quilting, I used the Baby Lock Digital Dual Feed Foot and Aurifil Monofilament. The serpentine stitch on my Baby Lock Journey is my go-to. I usually use a 3.5 or 4.0 stitch length. The quilting turns out great every time!
