RBDNotSoBasic...Free FPP Block

It’s no secret! I love Foundation Paper Piecing.

But in full transparency, I was very nervous about trying it.

I read countless blog posts and watched numerous video tutorials but still lacked the confidence to try it.

I started by trying a simple block and after lots of practice (and some failures) I conquered my fears.

Pave the way—for yourself! Just like with every technique, there are several ways to achieve the end result. Find the technique that works best for you.

My friend, Jessica Dayon recently shared a beginner FPP tutorial and it’s pretty darn awesome.

She also shares a FREE block for you to try. How awesome, right?

I loved the block so much I couldn’t stop at making one. I made four.

The entire mini quilt features some of my favorite Riley Blake Designs basics. Blossom, Stripes, Swiss Dots, and Confetti Cottons. The color combination makes me so happy. What do you think?

RBD basics are not-so-basic. They’re basically amazing. Check out the #rbdnotsobasic for project inspiration. Also check out the Make-it-Modern project tour happening on the RBD blog.

The sashing is 1 1/2’’ wide and the borders are 3’’ wide. I used my Baby Lock Journey for both piecing and quilting. The serpentine quilting stitch gives the mini quilt some fun texture, don’t you think?

I hope you’ll take the leap and try Foundation Paper Piecing.
